Creator Policy

DD+ Watch is our platform for independent filmmakers, documentary makers, and instructors. Once your application is approved, you get a creator dashboard, an upload pipeline, and a public page for your work.

You own the copyright in the videos, artwork, and descriptions you upload. By uploading, you give DD+ a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, transcode, stream, promote, and display your work on DD+ Watch and DD+'s owned channels (site, app, newsletter, social) while your account is active.

You can remove a video at any time from your dashboard. When you do, we stop streaming it. Cached copies on viewers' devices may take a short time to clear.

You confirm that you have the rights to everything in what you upload — footage, music, contributors, and any people featured — and that you can share it publicly on DD+ Watch.

Don't upload anything that:

• breaks Gambian law or the laws of a country you're operating from;
• promotes hate, harassment, or violence against a person or group;
• sexually depicts minors or is otherwise exploitative;
• contains footage of real violence used for shock value;
• infringes someone else's copyright, trademark, or privacy;
• presents misinformation as journalism, or misrepresents sources;
• is primarily an advert for a product, service, or campaign without disclosure.

Editorial documentary about difficult subjects is welcome. Framing, context, and sourcing matter — if a piece needs a content warning, add one in the description.

Each tier includes a monthly cap on stored video-minutes and a monthly cap on delivered video-minutes (the total time viewers spend watching your videos). Both are shown on the application page and in your dashboard. If your library approaches the storage cap, we'll ask you to upgrade, archive older videos, or reduce quality on selected uploads. If delivery is exceeded in a given month, we may throttle playback quality for the rest of that month or bill the overage at the rate published on your tier.

New creators get a 14-day free trial from the day their payment method is added. After the trial, hosting is billed monthly on the same date. You can pay by card or mobile money through Waychit, or self-report a Wave or Nafa transfer.

When you self-report a payment, we hold the invoice as pending confirmation for up to 48 hours while we verify settlement on our side. If we can confirm it during that window your videos stay live; if we can't, we'll email you before anything is hidden.

If an invoice becomes overdue we start a 7-day grace period. During grace your videos stay public and playable. After grace ends without payment, we mark affected videos hidden by billing — they are removed from public listings but are not deleted, and reappear automatically once the invoice clears.

Fees are non-refundable except where required by law.

You choose whether each video or article is free or paid. Paid items require a price in Gambian Dalasi (GMD) and at least one payout link (Wave or Nafa) on your Studio profile.

When a viewer buys, DD+ gives them your payout link and a reference code. The money goes straight to your Wave/Nafa account — we don't hold funds. Once you see the payment land, confirm it from Studio → Earnings and the viewer gets instant access.

DD+ takes no commission on paid unlocks in v1. You're responsible for any tax obligations on income you receive. Refunds are handled directly between you and the viewer; if you cancel or refund a purchase, remove the access from the same Earnings screen.

Free items can optionally show a support link button (Wave/Nafa) so viewers can tip you. Support links do not appear on paid items — the price already handles it.

Every video has a report button. Reports go to our moderation queue with the reason and a note. If a video is clearly against these guidelines, we may hide it while we contact you. If it isn't, we close the report and the video stays live. Repeated confirmed violations lead to suspension (see below).

If you believe a video on DD+ Watch infringes your copyright, email us at thedailydosegm@gmail.com with the URL, a description of the work you own, and a statement that you're authorised to act on the rights holder's behalf. We respond to valid claims by hiding the video and contacting the creator.

If your video is affected by a claim you think is wrong, you can reply with a counter-notice explaining why. We restore videos when a counter-notice resolves the claim.

We may suspend or close a creator account if:

• you repeatedly upload content that breaks the guidelines;
• a single upload is a serious violation (e.g. illegal content);
• an invoice stays unpaid beyond the grace period for an extended time;
• the account is used to impersonate someone else.

You can close your creator account at any time from the dashboard or by emailing us. When you close it, your videos are removed from public pages within 24 hours.

When we make meaningful changes we'll update the date at the top and show a notice in your creator dashboard the next time you sign in. Small edits (typos, clarity) are made in place.

This policy is governed by the laws of The Republic of The Gambia, alongside our Terms of Use.
